PHOTOGRAPHY APPS FOR YOUR MOBILE DEVICE

​Mobile photography is awesome because of the thousands of apps that are created especially for the smart phone camera. Many incredible apps are available and extremely helpful in editing your photos and videos to enhance and elevate them from mediocre to magnificent. While you can't correct every problem, you can improve many elements to get rid of blemishes, sharpen specific aspects of an image or add interesting text or other effects over the photo.

Find your favorite, learn to use it well, and you can take your already awesome image onto the next level.

Keep the camera still while shooting.

  • Put both hands on the camera.
  • Sit or lean to stabilize yourself.
  • Use a tripod if necessary, for long exposures.
  • Use the timer on the camera to give more time for stability
  • Keep in mind the less light there is, the longer it will take to capture the image.

Use SNEAKER ZOOM not DIGITAL ZOOM.

  • Pinching to zoom is digital zoom – don’t do it. Your images and video will look pixelated.
  • Get closer to your subject whenever possible. Optical zoom – Your images will be sharper & clearer.

Depth of Field

  • DOF is the nice blurry look in front of and behind the subject.
  • You need to be close to the subject and have lots of light
  • Use your finger to focus on the subject

Composition

  • Keep it simple
  • Fill the frame with the subject
  • Keep in mind the rule of thirds – use gridlines to help
  • Place your subject in one of the intersections

Light

  • Notice where the shadows are
  • Reposition yourself or the subject to avoid harsh shadow.
  • The flash or a reflector can help reduce harsh shadows
  • Use the flashlight from your friend’s phone to add extra light (collaborative photos)
  • Light will be most harsh mid-day (Try to shoot in the shade)
  • The quality of the light is best when the sun is rising of setting (The Golden Hours)

HDR - High Dynamic Range

  • a powerful technique used to extend the dynamic range of your camera in order to capture the maximum of the details in highly contrasted scenes.
  • There are three HDR settings: Auto, On and Off.
  • If you set HDR to Auto, your phone determines whether to use HDR or not.
  • If you want to control this decision to shoot HDR photos, set the HDR option to On.

Digital Noise

  • Digital Noise looks like red or green flecks in your image
  • Conditions are too dark for your device so it raises the I


VIDEOGRAPHY APPS FOR YOUR MOBILE DEVICE

You can trim you video clips in the Photo app on your phone.

To trim the video clip you shot on your phone:

  1. Open the Photos app and tap the video that you want to edit.
  2. Tap Edit.
  3. Move the sliders on both sides of the video timeline to change the start and stop times.
  4. To preview your video, tap .
  5. Tap Done, then tap Save as New Clip.
